Jute, a vegetable soft fiber is known as the ‘Golden fiber’due to its golden brown color. In terms of usage, production and global consumption, jute is second only to cotton, environmentally friendly, easy to grow and is mostly cultivated in India and Bangladesh. The stem of the jute plant is soaked in water to soften it. The fiber is then extracted mechanically and spun int yarn. The jute yarn is extensively used in the manufacture of all types of carpets, eco friendly packing solution and also recently in erosion control.
